The process of installing underlying IT infrastructure, operating systems and base application, is slow, tedious and prone to operator error when performed manually. This can have serious side effects in a business environment, including cost, security and business continuity issues.
Automating the process leads to reduced administration time spent on installation and fixing issues caused by installation errors. Systems can be scaled quickly and easily by adding further identically configured machines, and downtime can be minimised in the event of system failure.
Linux and Solaris can both be installed and configured using completely automated processes and a simple base infrastructure.
Example scripts can be found here.
As part of our training materials, we have produced a number of quick reference cards.
